Interests
My interests split fairly clearly into two groups. Some are close to my work and shape the kinds of technical problems I want to spend time on. Others sit outside work, but matter just as much to how I think and pay attention.
Technical Interests
A lot of my curiosity sits around technical questions in statistics, machine learning, and the sciences. I’m especially drawn to both parametric and non parametric statistics, computational biology, and problems in biology and medicine where modeling can help make complex systems more understandable.
Those are the areas where I most naturally want to read more, build things, and follow difficult open ended questions over time.
Photography
Photography is where I keep a visual record of places, movement, and everyday detail. I have many more images than I can reasonably show at once, so this page will hold a small rotating selection. You can click each image to open it in full size.
Learning Languages
I’ve had a long history of being interested in languages. I’ve always found it interesting how thoughts, images, and even feeling can be shaped through words, expression, and tone. The languages I’ve loved most were the ones that made me feel like I wanted to be part of them, and have them become part of me.
For me, learning a language has never been just about words or vocabulary. It also includes culture, habits, and the way people move through life. I learned German when I was five by watching cartoons, later learned English without taking classes, eventually reached a C1 level in German, and now also speak French. I may write about languages in Notes over time, but for me the interest goes well beyond grammar or study methods.
Writing
Writing is where I try to make my thoughts clearer. The Notes section is where I’ll put reflections, short essays, and things I’m working through.
